ABHINAYA DARPAN
Abhinaya can be defined as enacting of various stages of a character through body, heart and speech.
It can be literally translated to expressions, yet a more accurate description would be ‘acting’ or ‘copying’.

ANGIK ABHINAYA
In Angik Abhinaya, meaning is conveyed through body movements, including hand gestures (mudras), mandis (postures/ positions), and even the manner in which the dancer walks.

VACHIKA ABHINAYA
It is the use of proper pronunciation, voice modulation, and accent. Although it is formally used only by members of the orchestra, it is useful at the time of reciting bols, singing a piece.

AHARYA ABHINAYA
Refers to the expression, mood, and background. Conveyed to the audience through the costume, make up, accessories and set design.

SATVIKA ABHINAYA
It is the representation of major psychological conditions and emotions.
